Your role
As an Analyst working in the Automotive Segment, you’ll contribute to the accurate and relevant assessment and analysis of wholesale credit risk of new and existing customers and the ongoing effective management and administration of existing customer exposures. In doing so, the role will provide 1st line assurance of the validity and integrity in risk management processes and relevant customer segment and industry intelligence to inform decision making at a national level.

In this position you will be accountable to
  • Meet with customers/Relationship Managers and identify, explain, collect and assess/analyse relevant financial, business, market and risk data to a high standard for new lending proposals and for the purposes of annual review and convey an informed view and recommendation of customers;
  • Provide coaching, sales support, product knowledge, interpret credit and sector policy, and display deal team acumen internally to state based teams to support value added customer experiences and financial objectives of the 1st line of defence (the business line);
  • Demonstrate ability to research and develop a view on the Automotive industry and key market drivers, and construct logical and informed arguments to assist in communications, credit submissions and discussions with internal stakeholders;
  • Display clear, concise and professional verbal and written communication and applying sound negotiation and mediation skills when required;
  • Build sound, trusted relationships with 1st line Relationship Managers, Portfolio Managers and Credit Managers and demonstrate ongoing management and administration of risk management processes/framework.
Further accountabilities include
  • Accurate and comprehensive evaluation of credit proposals
  • Undertake detailed financial analysis, including cashflow analysis and forecasting for average exposures of ~$40M
  • Timely, accurate and comprehensive completion of annual reviews;
  • Risk identification and mitigation.
  • Credit Policy and compliance management processes.
  • Speed to market for customer requests;
  • Focus on excellence of delivery;
  • Maintain and deepen relationships with customers;
  • Promote a culture of team work and engagement;
  • Champion new ideas and processes amongst the team.
  • Share best practice.
  • Assist Sales and Credit staff as appropriate.
What you need to succeed
  • 3 years + in Corporate Banking in a credit writing role. Prior Expose to Wholesale Credit role is preferred, although not essential
  • A strong understanding of financial accounts, and being numerate in various financial and cash flow analysis, metrics and risk grading frameworks;
  • Automotive Finance industry experience is an advantage (but not essential).
  • A sound grasp of St.George/Westpac credit systems is an advantage;
  • Tertiary qualifications (Business/Accounting/Economics)
