niversity for sport in Australia and to continue the implementation of our Sport strategy, we are seeking a Sport Development Officer to join us. In this newly created role you will support La Trobe Sport in the promotion of sport related courses, research and partnerships, to provide elite athlete support and assist in the delivery of a range of student recruitment and promotional events. This role represents an exciting opportunity to help ensure La Trobe is the number one University for sport in Australia.
Role responsibilities and qualities
In this role your key responsibilities will include:
  • Working with the Manager, Sport Partnerships to manage the Elite Athlete Friendly University (EAFU) program in order to attract more elite athletes to the University and provide the best practice in the EAFU program.
  • Support the management of key University sport partnerships and sponsorships such as Melbourne City FC and the AFL Players' Association.
  • Assist in event management associated with key partnerships, conferences, leveraging events and delegation visits.
  • Facilitate the relationship between sport infrastructure management and new external user groups seeking access to University sporting facilities, and facilitate expanded services for an increased number of student athletes attending the University.
To be successful in this role you will possess:
  • Previous experience working with elite athletes.
  • Well-developed organisational and time management skills, including managing multiple demands, meeting tight deadlines, and the ability to work independently.
  • Highly developed knowledge of the principles, theory and practice of sport, including community, elite and university contexts.
  • Demonstrated ability to deal effectively with multiple stakeholders from diverse backgrounds representing the views, policies and practices of La Trobe.
