The Mine Subsidence Board is a service organisation, operating for the community in coal mining areas of New South Wales. They are responsible for administering the Mine Subsidence Compensation Ac
t, which provides for compensation and/or repair/remediation works for damage caused by mine subsidence resulting from the extraction of coal. The Act also makes the Board responsible for reducing the risk of mine subsidence damage to properties by assessing and controlling the types of buildings and improvements which can be erected in Mine Subsidence Districts.

As part of progressive organisational changes, two opportunities have arisen for District Managers to lead their busy operational teams in Newcastle and Picton.

The role

Reporting to the Regional Project Coordinator, the District Manager will lead and manage technical and administrative staff, as well as the operations of the District Office to ensure consistent quality client service, and program/project delivery performance for both claims for mining compensation and surface development approvals.

Your key duties will include;

? Manage the District Office, its services and operations to meet the required aims and objectives of the organisation including high levels of client service.
? Manage repairs, remediation and emergency works
? Oversee the functions of compensation/remediation claims, procurement and contract administration to ensure that departmental policy is observed and legislative requirements are met
? Manage the implementation of the Board?s surface development policies, maintaining and promoting compatibility between underground coal mining and service development whilst minimising the risk and liability of the Board
? Provide expert knowledge and advice to stakeholders during investigations of compensation/remediation claims
? Manage the investigation and assessment of claims for compensation, providing for the elimination of risk and danger associated with a mine subsidence event and ensuring a seamless and equitable delivery of repairs /compensation
? Carry out peer reviews of major claims to be considered by the Members of the Board to support decision making.

The successful candidate with have demonstrated experience as an established leader, with proven technical, project and administrative management expertise, you will also demonstrate the following;
? Appropriate tertiary qualifications and/or equivalent relevant working experience in project management, engineering, architecture, and building or construction.
? Valid NSW Drivers Licence and willingness to undertake occasional travel.
? Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
? Client and stakeholder management and negotiation skills and the ability to influence and deal with staff and clients at all levels.
