The Mine Subsidence Board is a service organisation, operating for the community in coal mining areas of New South Wales. They are responsible for administering the Mine Subsidence Compensation Act, which provides for compensation or repair services for damage caused by mine subsidence resulting from the extraction of coal. The Act also makes the Board respo
nsible for reducing the risk of mine subsidence damage to properties by assessing and controlling the types of buildings and improvements which can be erected in Mine Subsidence Districts.

The Role

As a key technical resource, the primary purpose of the Risk Engineer is to provide engineering expertise to support the core functions of the Board, including the assessment of claims and building applications, and the management of mine subsidence risk on existing and future developments.

This position reports to the Regional Projects Coordinator and will have responsibility, in addition to the primary purpose, in the following key duties;

? Facilitate the assessment of the Board?s future liability from mine subsidence, to ensure the Board?s funds are sufficiently resourced
? Manage the Board?s vibration-monitoring program including the capture, analysis and reporting of results
? Contribute to the Board?s research and development projects
? Liaise with organisations including building and mining industries, government agencies, engineers/consultants to discuss mine subsidence issues and increase industry awareness of the Board?s requirements. Attendance at meetings and forums on behalf of the Board is also required
? Implement the Board?s quality certified policies and procedures and assist with the auditing of these practices.

The successful applicant will be degree qualified in relevant field such as Civil/Mining/Environment and current NSW Driver Licence. Also have demonstrated experience in engineering, architecture, and building or construction. They will also be able to resolve complex problem, have excellent written and verbal communication skills and intermediate skills in MS Office.
