Payroll Officer

An experienced Pay-roll Specialist

A leading international organisation based in Western Sydney is looking to secure a stand alone Senior Payroll Officer to join their team.   Reporting to head of finance, the role sits within a close knit finance department and you will be given total autonomy and ownership of the payroll.

The role is a part time permane
nt opportunity - 25-30 hours per week with flexible working hours. Hours to be discussed.

  • Enter Payroll Journal batch in Accounting system Draft Letters of Appointments (LoA) for new employees.
  • Utilising ADP payroll as third party payroll processing system. 
  • Reconcile Wages, Super, P/R tax Clearing Accounts in the GL.
  • Print payroll reports and distribute to various Departments.
  • Process the new hires paperwork and fulfils legal requirements
  • Complete 'New Employee' checklist to ensure all entitlements are arranged/provided
  • Create a new personal file for new employee
  • Create new employee master file on ADP, setting up of benefits, deductions, allowances etc.
  • Complete, process and Monthly salaries and Fortnightly pays. Create pay EFTs on and batch authorisation and release
  • Understands and process Termination pay,  
  • Administers workers compensation insurance claims including complete and lodge annual Workers Compensation return for each state
  • Maintain Monthly Payroll accrual of unpaid F/N hours in Accounting System
  • Calculate, complete and lodge monthly and yearly Payroll Tax return for each state
  • Interpret labour laws, Awards and administers them accordingly. This includes keeping up with Fairwork Australia minimum wage, overtime, entitlements and record-keeping laws to ensure compliance.
  • Develop policies to improve remuneration packaging and payroll processes
  • Conduct on-going review of payroll operations and recommend system or procedural improvements
  • Create and update Company handbook that explains the company's culture and employment processes. This will also establishes clear company policies and helps to enforce them. Policies may relate to a code of conduct such as acceptable and unprofessional behaviour, time-sheet submission and payroll, benefits, safety inspection, workers' compensation, employee dispute resolution and reasons for termination.
  • Able to answer and assist staff with payroll queries 
  • Assist with Monthly Credit Cards reconciliation and booking into accounting software

Ideal Candidate
  • Currently operating in a Stand Alone Full end to end payroll processing role 
  • Strong attention to detail, computer/systems savvy. 
  • Top communication and presentation skills - and have professional and pleasant demeanour. 
  • Confident, mature character with the ability to work with all levels and be strong enough to push back. 
  • Approachable and have excellent diplomacy and organisational skills 
  • Experienced in using in-house and outsourced payroll systems.
