We are looking for both male and female Support Workers who are passionate about becoming involved in modern, progressive, flexible service delivery under the context of the NDIS to work within our Aboriginal Services.
These positions are a great opportunity to join the team here at HWNS where you will obtain experience and training in all aspects of the disability sector, including but not limited to: working with complex health needs, manual handling, rights and advocacy, as well as assisting in providing day to day support, access to the local and wider community and personal development to the people we support.

·         Like to work in an environment that is focussed on supporting people to identify and achieve their aspirations.
To be considered for these positions you are required to address the below selection criteria in your application letter.
Essential Criteria:
·         Experience working with and a commitment to empowering adults and children with a disability and/or mental health diagnosis.
·         A strong understanding of the Aboriginal culture.
·         A capacity to meet the physical requirements of the job that may include manual handling tasks.
·         Commitment to motivating people we support to achieve personal goals, enabling community participation and independence skills building.
·         Understanding and knowledge of person centered practices.
·         Knowledge of current changes within the disability sector including awareness of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS).
·         Well developed communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills.
·         Ability to manage the administrative tasks associated with the role and good computer competency with Microsoft suite programs.
·         A willingness to learn and grow within the support worker role including participation in ongoing training.
·         Ability to support others with personal care and domestic duties in a respectful way.
·         The capacity to work in a small team environment and at times independently.
·         A commitment to gaining an understanding of and working with HWNS Values, Mission and the Disability Services Standards.
·         Current Drivers Licence.
·         Willingness to use own vehicle with comprehensive insurance.
·         Current First Aid certificate or willingness to obtain.
·         Current Working with Children Check or willingness to obtain.
·         Available to work on a rotating roster, which may include a combination of shifts including days, afternoons, sleepovers and weekend shifts.
