Perth Inner City Youth Service (PICYS) is a highly respected provider of support services to young people in need, offering supported accommodation and psychosocial support to young people aged between 15-25 living with long term complex needs, through two programs – Household Networks and PILLAR personalised support. In recognising the level of trauma commonly experienced by the young people we work with, PICYS encourages and supports the ongoing training, development and professiona
l supervision of all staff.   We are currently seeking applicants for the fixed term contract position detailed below.
PILLAR – Mental Health Youth Worker part time up to 30 hours per week fixed term contract to 30 June 2016 {with view to a further contracting period}
We are seeking a mental health worker for our psychosocial support program (PILLAR) which offers support to young people aged 15 to 20 who are experiencing mental health issues and are homeless or at risk of homelessness, including outreach.  Experience working in the mental health field, working with self-harm and suicidal ideation, working with young people and experience working with homelessness is essential.  The successful candidate will have excellent interpersonal skills with a track record of working effectively with young people and the ability to work independently yet also as a member of a small team, and the broader whole agency team.   An understanding of the issues facing young people and the resources available to them is highly desirable, as is prior experience working in outreach settings.  Knowledge and experience working with young people with multiple and long term complex needs is desirable.
Requirements:  Qualifications in Mental Health, Counselling, Youth Work, Community Work, and Social Work.  Class C driver's licence, National Police Clearance less than 6 months old, current Working with Children's Check and eligibility to work in Australia.
PICYS pays Award rates according to SCHCDSI Award (MA000100). Plus Salary Sacrifice is optional.
