Applications are invited for an enthusiastic, dynamic, suitably qualified and experienced Library Technician to join our developing and growing College. The successful applicant will join Principal,
Mr Bruce Rixon and a strong Executive team.
The positions are full time commencing at 8.00 and concluding at 4.00pm and commence in Term 1, 2016. The College has two Campuses; Greenacre and Yagoona. The role will be based at Greenacre for the majority of the week.
The College is a developing Kindergarten to Year 12 Muslim School with an enrolment of above 620 students. This position is open to all faiths.
Applicants will need to have exemplary organisational and relationship skills in working with children and staff, a sound understanding of the role of Library Technician and sympathetic to the philosophy of education in our Muslim Alawite College.  
Positions at Al Sadiq College are designated as child-related employment. If you receive an offer of employment with us you will need to obtain your own Working With Children Check Clearance in accordance with the Child Protection (Working With Children) Act 2012.

Library Technician

General Selection Criteria
  • Available for full time work, Monday to Friday, 8.00am to 4.00pm
  • Be good ambassadors of the College

  • Ability to work with children in the educational setting of one on one, in small groups or larger groups
  • Be good role models in terms of personal hygiene, grooming, language and punctuality

Specific Selection Criteria
  • School library experience
  • A strong focus on customer service and enjoyment of  the challenge of working with young people
  • Have a vision for change and adaptations for 21st Century Learners
  • Capacity to positively support students and staff using the Library
  • Ability to uphold the appropriate student behaviour code in the Library
  • Ability to perform technical and clerical tasks with limited supervision
  • A willingness to assist students and staff with location and collection of resources
  • An ability to maintain resources, Library displays, copy catalogue, process and shelve resources, including presentation and cleanliness of the Library
  • Experience with automated library systems, preferably with Oliver
  • Receive and process all resources and reconcile with packing slips and invoices in a timely manner
  • Edit records on the Library database, including maintaining correct database details of all users
  • Add barcodes and spine labels to all new resources
  • Oversee covering of new books, repair of damaged resources and disposal of old or damaged resources
  • Maintain all parts of the Library collection such as posters, kits, videos, CDs, books, readers and teacher resources
  • Controlling book hire to students, including issuing of books to students and advising HoDs at the end of each year about the resources to be replaced /ordered for the following year
  • Assist with the annual stock take
  • Assist with Book Week
  • Advanced level of IT skills, including Microsoft programs Word, Excel, email and internet, as well as experience and enjoyment in using all forms of technology
  •  Any other duties as required by the Librarian
  • Assist with other areas of College life as required such as special events or functions
  • Having knowledge of technology will be an advantage.
  • Assisting the IT Manager of the College
    • Managing the storage of Ipads and laptops in the Library precinct
    • Trouble shooting laptops and computers
    • Imaging of lap and install basic software
    • Assist with College Hall audio equipment.
  • Responsibility to the Principal or his delegate
