Overview:
Griffith University is a dynamic, innovative and well-respected university. The Griffith School of Engineering has been providing tertiary qualifications to the Engineering profession for over 2 decades, and is known for its innovative and student focussed teaching approaches and its strong industry relatio
nships. There has been a rapid growth in student numbers since 2007 and we now teach over 2000 students at both undergraduate and postgraduate programs in several disciplines, including Civil, Mechanical, Electrical and Electronic and Environmental Engineering as well as in Industrial Design.

This academic position contributes to the delivery and development of civil engineering courses offered in the undergraduate engineering programs as well as the specialised postgraduate program. The position has a strong teaching focus with a special emphasis placed on incorporating experiential teaching and learning techniques in civil design and/or structural engineering.

This is a continuing, full-time position based at the Gold Coast campus.

The role:

We are currently seeking to appoint a Lecturer in civil engineering who specialises in civil design and/or structural engineering. This position is required to convene, prepare and deliver lectures, tutorials and seminars in civil engineering related courses, as well as contribute to curriculum development, with support and advice from senior colleagues. This position will also conduct high quality research in discipline related areas and contribute to internal and external service activities to the School, University and wider community.

The person:
The successful applicant will have a PhD (or equivalent) in Civil Engineering or related area. You will be an innovative teacher with experience in the use of experiential learning techniques and have demonstrated capacity, quality and experience in tertiary teaching. The successful candidate will have sustained achievement in high-impact research or show strong evidence of research potential with refereed publications in international journals in an area of Civil Engineering, coupled with clear evidence of the potential to attract external research grants. You will have the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with academic and technical staff, and undergraduate and postgraduate students.

Salary range:
Lecturer Level B: $89,357 - $106,114 per annum. Salary package including 17% employer superannuation contribution: $104,548 - $124,154 per annum.
