The Role

Reporting to the Maritime Engineering Lead, you will have the opportunity to showcase your diverse capability while performing as an engineering generalist.   Working from our Sydney office, you will contribute to a range of projects to enable the development of solutions aimed at addressing our client's needs.  With a solid technical background, you will be instrumental in understanding project requirements and constraints and formalising specifications to deliver cost-effective solutions and products.

The Individual

With Naval Architecture, Systems or Mechanical Engineering experience, you will be client focused and able to adapt to rapidly changing requirements.  Your natural style will be solution-oriented and collaborative.  Possessing excellent interpersonal skills, you will work effectively as a team player with our Melbourne and Canberra offices and client teams.  You will be capable of working autonomously and will perform effectively, even when working remotely.
We are looking for someone with experience in any or all of:
  • Acquisition or sustainment experience within large defence or commercial maritime programs
  • Review of contractor deliverables against CDRLs and DIDs
  • Integrated logistics support
  • Capability document development
  • Risk and safety management
  • Cost estimating and modelling
  • Relationship management
  • A network and experience within the defence environment would be an advantage.
You will have:
  • 10+ years of relevant experience in naval programs and engineering
  • A university degree in a relevant engineering discipline
  • Chartered status, or be willing to carry out continued professional development
  • Project management experience
  • Experience in contributing to engineering assessments, feasibility studies and technical investigations
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently in a client facing environment

Other Requirements

Preference will be given to candidates who hold, or are eligible to obtain, an Australian Defence security clearance.
