Erasmus School,Teacher Aide - Learning Support - Primary



A position has become available for a fixed term, part-time Teacher Aide commencing 2017.
Erasmus Primary School is an independent, non-denominational, co-educational school of primary education with an enrolment of 100 students. Established in 1996 by the School of Philosophy Melbourne, it is part of a worldwide network of schools that all share the same guiding ethos, which acknowle
dges that every person shares the same universal essence, and that given the right conditions, all have the capacity to grow to their full potential.
The school offers philosophy, meditation and mindfulness practices. All children and staff sit down together daily to eat a freshly prepared, vegetarian morning tea and lunch. 
The successful applicant will assist with the delivery and implementation of the teaching and learning program across all year levels and must have:
  • A love of working with children to support their learning
  • Relevant and demonstrated experience in a similar role
  • Genuine interest in the area of Inclusive Education and respect for the unlimited potential of all children
  • An understanding of child development and related academic development
  • Proficient administrative skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence with a demonstrated ability to build positive working relationships with all members of the School 
  • The ability to work collaboratively within a professional learning team
  • Capacity for self-reflection
  • The willingness to be involved in all aspects of the School's program
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
  • Assist the Individual Learning Coordinator in the delivery of learning programs
  • Assist teachers with differentiating the curriculum.
 QUALIFICATIONS and EXPERIENCE
  • Certificate III in Education Support or higher
  • Experience in assisting with learning support at the primary level
  • Experience working with children on the Autism Spectrum or with a speech and language delay would be highly regarded
  • Knowledge and experience of Feuerstein Method highly regarded
  • Knowledge and experience of Growth Mindset approach highly regarded
  • Current Working With Children Check
  • Current First Aid certificate -Schools First Aid Skill Set.
The Learning Aide reports to the Curriculum Coordinator and has a close working relationship with the Individual Learning Coordinator and Class Teachers.
