Serco ASPAC is currently seeking a Training Officer to join the National Training Team for Justice and Immigration for a 12 month fixed term contract based in Melbourne, Victoria. This key position will deliver training to operational staff in accordance with Serco’s Registered Training Organisation (RTO) requirements.

About the Job:
This is a full-time role based on 38 hours per week working on a rotating roster covering Monday – Saturday.  Good professional personal presentation contributing to providing a positive learning environment for training is essential. This role requires strong communication and an intermediate/advanced level with the Microsoft Office software.  A customer focus, use initiative and meet the deadlines set, whilst remaining calm is a requirement of the position.

Responsibilities for this position will include:
  • Deliver competency based Certificate II Security Operations, Defensive Tactics, Report writing, Conflict management & First Aid training to a diverse range of adult learners
  • Ensure Serco’s training and assessment is delivered in accordance with RTO requirements
  • Maintain personal qualification and accreditation to meet the RTO requirements
  • Build strong relationships with key stakeholders and actively promote Learning & Development
  • Meet compliance audits that are conducted onsite ensuring all officers are in date for training requirements
  • Participate in the monitoring of staff development, providing up to date advice and guidance on issues relating to staff development

Essential qualifications and experience (must have):
  • Certificate IV Training & Assessment (TAE 40110)
  • Certificate II Security (CPP20212), or relevant qualifications in corrections or policing
  • Provide Advanced First Aid (HLTAID006)
  • Understanding of Australian Quality Training Framework (AQTF)
  • Experience delivering training to a large workforce
  • Experience delivering auditory, visual and kinaesthetic training

Desirable qualifications and experience:
  • Certificate IV Security and Risk Management or other Management qualifications
  • Experience working within a detention environment
  • Experience delivering training in a detention environment

 Requirements:
  • Maintain a current Australian Federal Police Clearance
  • Maintain a current “Working with Children” certificate in accordance with the relevant state child protection legislation (as required)
  • Meet the character and training requirements of the Migration Act (1958) in order to be designated as an Officer under the Act.
